We built a complete keyword-to-article automation that performs SERP research, extracts ranking patterns, identifies winning content angles, writes the article in multiple AI stages, runs SEO quality checks, revises the article based on scoring, stores output automatically, and logs any errors for debugging. All inside a single n8n workflow.
SERP Research via Google Serper API
The workflow starts by fetching the top search results for the given keyword. It extracts titles, meta descriptions, ranking URLs, content snippets, related searches, and People Also Ask questions. This gives the system a clear understanding of search intent and current competitors.
AI Trend & Angle Identification
A dedicated AI Analyst (Gemini/OpenAI) analyzes the SERP dataset and identifies common content angles, searcher expectations, gaps competitors missed, subtopics that must be covered, and ideal content structure for ranking. This step mirrors the thought process of an experienced SEO strategist.
Multi-Stage Drafting Process
Instead of generating one-shot articles (which are usually weak), the workflow uses a structured, multi-phase writing approach: Phase 1: Outline Creation (AI generates a complete SEO-optimized outline), Phase 2: Section-by-Section Draft Writing (Each section is written individually for clarity and depth), Phase 3: Coherent Article Assembly (All sections merge into one polished article). This ensures higher quality, better coverage, and more natural writing.
Automated SEO Quality Score
After drafting the article, another AI agent performs a keyword density check, title & H1 evaluation, readability improvement suggestions, and gap detection (what SERP winners included that the draft lacked). A score and feedback list are generated.
Revision Loop
Based on the SEO score, the workflow revises sections, fixes missing elements, strengthens competitor-required content, and improves clarity, tone, and structure. This creates a final version that is SEO-ready and publication-ready.
Clean Output Storage
The final, polished article is stored as a document, linked to the workflow, logged for future edits, and organized by keyword theme. This allows teams to build large content libraries with minimal effort.
Error Logging System
If any stage fails (e.g., bad SERP results, AI issue, formatting mismatch), the system logs the keyword, captures the error, and records details in a Google Sheet. This makes it easy to debug and rerun only the affected items.
