    At DQ Ventures, every founder who reaches the “Confirmed: Explore” stage needs a dedicated Slack workspace to collaborate with GP Leads and the internal team. Before automation, this process was completely manual and repetitive: Creating Slack channels one by one, Naming channels correctly, Finding and inviting the correct GP Lead, Sharing portal links, Drive folders, and investment memos, Sending onboarding instructions manually, Updating CRM records with Slack links. As founder volume increased, this led to delays, inconsistency, and operational overhead. DQ Ventures needed a way to give every founder a high-quality, consistent onboarding experience without increasing manual work.

    The Solution

    Automation Overview

    We built an end-to-end automation that creates a personalized Slack workspace for every founder the moment they move into the “Confirmed: Explore” stage inside Folk CRM. The workflow handles everything automatically: channel creation, onboarding content, GP Lead assignment, and CRM updates — all in seconds, with zero human involvement.

    CRM-Triggered Automation

    The workflow starts when a founder’s status updates inside Folk CRM. This ensures Slack setup only happens at the correct stage.

    Smart Channel Creation Logic

    The system checks whether a Slack channel already exists for the founder: If it exists, the workflow reuses it. If not, it creates a new private Slack channel using a clean, standardized naming format. This prevents duplicates and keeps Slack organized.

    Slack Canvas as a Central Workspace

    Once the channel is ready, the automation creates a Slack Canvas inside the channel. This Canvas automatically includes: Founder portal links, Google Drive onboarding folders, Investment memo links, Important Explore-stage resources. The Canvas becomes the founder’s single source of truth.

    Automatic GP Lead Assignment

    The workflow identifies the assigned GP Lead from Folk CRM, finds their Slack profile automatically, and invites them into the channel. No manual searching. No wrong invites.

    Personalized Welcome Message

    A custom welcome message is posted in the channel, explaining: What the channel is for, How to use the shared resources, What the next steps are. This creates a polished, professional first impression.

    CRM Sync Back to Folk

    Finally, the workflow updates Folk CRM with the Slack channel link so operations, partners, and leadership can access it instantly.

    This automation connects multiple tools seamlessly: Folk CRM – Founder status, GP Lead assignment, record updates; Slack – Channel creation, user invites, Canvas creation, messaging; Google Drive – Investment memo and onboarding folder access; n8n – Workflow orchestration, logic control, validations, error handling.
